Cairo Shopping Route — The Zamalek Craft Spine, Garden City and Maadi

Cairo offers one coherent shopping walk in Zamalek and two separate district visits. Do not append Garden City and Maadi as casual final stops; bridge geometry and traffic decide those transfers. Confirm current hours on the day.

Zamalek: north to south

Begin at Caravanserai, 15 Ahmed Heshmat Street. Large furniture decisions need a fresh eye. Inspect construction and take written dimensions before the day’s smaller objects crowd the brief.

Walk south-west to ANŪT, 14 Shagaret El Dor. Compare Fayoum pottery, Akhmim textiles and embroidery as distinct origins. Keep maker notes with any purchase.

Continue east to Fair Trade Egypt, 27 Yehia Ibrahim Street. Ask for artisan group and governorate, then narrow the room to one material category.

Diwan, 159 26th of July Street, is close enough to make books the intellectual pause. Give staff a subject and compare languages or translations before adding weight to the bag.

Finish the walk at Nomad Gallery, 14 Mohamed Abdel Wahab Street, formerly Saray El Gezira Street, beside the Tunisian Embassy. Its regional range rewards the questions already tested upstream: community, technique, in-house contribution and care. The Zamalek sequence is roughly 2.4–3 kilometres by realistic streets.

Garden City

Take a car to Cairopolitan, 8 Dar El Shefa Street. Use this as the contemporary Cairo-design block: prints, tableware and in-house candles. Ask which specialised workshop produced ceramics or metalwork.

Maadi

Kiliim, 19 Mostafa Kamel Street in Sarayat El Maadi, belongs to a separate half-day. Measure before coming, inspect rugs flat and keep Fowa named as the weaving place. Traffic from central Cairo can consume the time needed for a serious rug decision.
