Turin Shopping Route: Consolata, Castello, and the chocolate doors
Turin's route is a short central day: a glass on Piazza della Consolata, a café inside Piazza Castello, chocolate on Via Lagrange and Piazza San Carlo, paper on Via San Tommaso if you still have a hand free. Via Roma is the corridor between those doors. It is not a stop. Confirm current hours before you leave. Official pages have printed Wednesday and August closes. Do not treat a historic room as a shop that never shuts.
Walk in this order. Do not start at Piazza CLN for a bottle. Do not start on Via Roma for a brand door. The thesis is the glass and the praline. Everything else is optional, and most of it is a refusal.
Morning. Piazza della Consolata
Begin in the Quadrilatero Romano, not on Via Roma. Come in from Piazza Castello along Via Garibaldi, then turn toward the basilica. The square is small. You will see the sanctuary door before you see the café.
Bicerin - Caffè al Bicerin is at Piazza della Consolata 5, opposite the sanctuary. Official page: open most days from 09:00, weekly close Wednesday, August close in 2026 through 28 August, reopen 29 August. Confirm. Order the bicerin. Do not stir it unless you are told to. Do not add a second café on this square. The drink is the stop. A tin by the door can wait until you know whether you still want sugar after Gobino.
If you have an appointment, MaFelicita is in the courtyard at Via delle Orfane 16, two minutes back toward the Quadrilatero. No appointment, no visit. The route does not wait on a doorbell. If you wrote, go in, name the cloth, then return to the walk. If you did not write, keep moving.
Late morning. Piazza Castello and Via San Tommaso
Walk east toward Piazza Castello. You can stay inside the Quadrilatero or drop back to Via Garibaldi. Either way you are heading for the gallery, not for Via Roma.
Baratti & Milano is at Piazza Castello 27, in the Galleria Subalpina. Cremino or gianduiotto, a small box or a table. Sit if the room is why you came. The official factory is in Bra. You do not go to Bra today. Ask whether the box was filled here. Then leave the gallery before it turns into a souvenir hall.
A few minutes west of the gallery, Bottega Fagnola sits at Via San Tommaso 11/E. Official shop hours on the contact page run Tuesday afternoon through Saturday, Sunday and Monday closed. Confirm. One notebook is enough. The workshop at Via Orvieto 19 is a different neighbourhood. Do not add it to the morning. If the shop is closed, do not invent a stationery crawl on Via Roma.
Midday. Via Lagrange, Piazza San Carlo, Via Roma
From Castello, walk south. Guido Gobino is at Via Lagrange 1/A. This is the chocolate door the day is for. Tourinot or Cremino al Sale. Name the piece. Ask when it was finished and how long it keeps. If Lagrange is shut, the official factory shop at Via Cagliari 15/b is a weekday detour, not a stroll. The Platti counter at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 72 is closer and weekday-heavy. Confirm. Do not collect all three doors.
Cut through to Piazza San Carlo. Stratta is at number 191 (piazza pin 45.0679167, 7.6827197). Domori is at number 177, same square pin. One of those two is enough. Violets or a named bar. Do not do both plus Gobino unless you can eat the difference and keep it cool. The square will try to make chocolate look like a corridor. It is not.
Venchi is around the corner at Via Accademia delle Scienze 3. Optional, and only if the others are closed. It is a chain door. The legal office is still Milan. A foil gianduiotto here is acceptable. It is not a reason to skip Lagrange.
Via Roma, between Castello and Piazza CLN, is the walk you are already on. K-Way has a brand door on this stretch (OSM clothes node 45.0664515, 7.6814396). Pass it unless you need a shell. Do not turn the arcade into the destination. Do not stop for a miniature bottle because the porticoes feel historic.
Afternoon, optional. Vittorio Veneto, then stop
If you still want cloth, walk east to Maison Guida at Piazza Vittorio Veneto 14. Official contact prints weekday and Saturday hours. Confirm. Ask cloth and repair. One piece. Then stop. The river is there if you want the river. The route is done.
Do not add Piazza CLN 228 for Turin Vermouth (TUVE) unless the glass and the praline are already bought and you specifically want a bottle. The shop may want a call. The plant at Strada del Cascinotto 130 is not on this walk.
Do not add Via Bologna 32 for Lavazza. That is Nuvola, museum and HQ. Do not add Santena for Caffè Vergnano, Collegno for Pastiglie Leone, Abbadia di Stura for Aurora, Pianezza for PT01, or None for the Domori factory. Those are houses, not this route.
Do not add Lingotto for Eataly unless you already know which counter. Do not add Saluzzo, Brescia, Paris, Lauriano, or Largo Maurizio Vitale. Those rows are wrong-geo, HQ, factory, or brand.
Three honest lengths
With forty-five minutes, do Bicerin only. Walk to the basilica, drink the glass, leave. With a morning, add Baratti and Gobino. That is the thesis in three doors. With a full centro day, keep one San Carlo confectioner and either Fagnola or Maison Guida, and leave every unverified brand card off the map.
If you only have an hour and Bicerin is closed, do Baratti and Gobino. Do not fill the hour with Venchi and Via Roma. If Gobino Lagrange is closed on a weekday, Cagliari or Platti can stand in. If it is Sunday, do not invent a factory visit.
