Egypt's fine jewellery house of provenance — in 1969 Azza Fahmy became the first woman apprenticed to the master goldsmiths of Khan el-Khalili; today her Cairo ateliers hand-pierce Arabic calligraphy into gold, twice commissioned by the British Museum.
