Café Andino
Huaraz, Ancash, Peru
What Café Andino is known for
An American expatriate opened this café in 1997 in a rented cement room, at a time when only instant Nescafé was sold locally despite Peru's coffee-growing heritage. Since 2001 it has roasted organic beans daily, sourced directly from growers in Rodriguez de Mendoza and Huánuco, and remains a fixture for climbers and trekkers passing through the Cordillera Blanca.
