What Doubleshot is known for
Doubleshot was founded in 2010 after its team split its preparation between two very different kinds of training: a year spent on coffee farms in Boquete, Panama, learning the growing and processing side directly at origin, and time training at Vancouver's 49th Parallel, absorbing roasting and quality-control practice from an established North American specialty roaster.
That combination — origin-side farm experience plus an established roastery's technical training — fed directly into what Doubleshot became: the first roastery in the Czech Republic to run a direct-trade program.
The result of that program is concrete rather than aspirational: over 90 percent of Doubleshot's beans are sourced directly from known producers, a high proportion that reflects sustained sourcing relationships rather than an occasional direct-trade lot mixed into an otherwise broker-supplied catalogue.
For a Prague coffee scene entering the specialty category later than much of Western Europe, Doubleshot's founding story — a year on Panamanian farms before a single bean was roasted in Prague — explains why its direct-trade sourcing runs as deep as it does.
Best for — Direct-trade coffee sourced from over 90% known producers
