Lúd Labor

Lúd Labor opened in 2019 at Klauzál utca 31 when two founders married their existing businesses. Mónus Mimi, an architect by training, had a bookbindery and her own paper brand, Papetri paperworks. Papetri was founded in 2012 as a small manufactory that designs and illustrates paper goods and makes them by hand in short runs. Its materials come only from sustainable sources. Böröcz Laci ran a small design shop inside the 2B Gallery, which he and his brother founded in 2002 and which he still directs. Its exhibitions are built around memory and Jewish identity. The shop's name is local. The district was once home to Jewish poultry and feather traders. The nickname the trade attracted, libások, or goose people, gives the shop its goose laboratory. The main line is paper and stationery. The founders' open approach shows in the accessories and artworks that share the shelves, sourced from Hungarian and foreign designers. In the back room a bookbinding workshop operates in view of customers. The hand-sewn Papetri albums and calendars are made there. Lúd Labor treats the sharing of that knowledge as part of its job and runs regular workshops in traditional graphic and bookbinding techniques. The webshop adds downloadable wallpapers and printable colouring pages, plus planner sheets and daily schedule cards. The same address serves as the Papetri brand store, with orders collected in person or sent by parcel across the country.
