Museum of the Future Shop sells exhibit-related souvenirs in Dubai, with clothing among product lines that also include toys and stationery. 99b Concept Store brings Irish and European clothing together with textiles and homeware at its family-run shop in Dublin's Rathgar Village. Om Diva combines vintage and contemporary clothing with work by Irish-based designers, adding another independent boutique to the Dublin selection.
This plate lists 2,224 shops in 122 countries. Paris has the most with 191, followed by Tokyo with 68. Among these shops, 90 describe made-to-order work, 12 offer repairs, 234 sell online and 11 work by appointment, going by their own descriptions.
Ask whether the label is the shop's own: some shops design and make their own collections, while others select from other labels.
Ask about alterations: ask whether the shop shortens and adjusts garments, and how long that takes.
Ask about returns and shipping: ask whether pieces can be exchanged from abroad and sent to your country.
Use the city plates when they appear below, or open any store for its official door and related ORBIS city and craft links.

Cusco
Cusco boutique on Calle Palacio selling locally handmade alpaca sweaters, cardigans, and blankets alongside SaKé handbags woven with traditional Peruvian techniques. A courtyard café inside the shop serves coca tea.
Best for In-house café serving coca tea
Cocoliso, tucked into a patio off Calle Palacio in Cusco's historic center, is built around thick-knit alpaca pieces: sweaters, cardigans, shawls, and blankets in a range of colors, all described as locally handmade. Alongside its own knitwear, the shop carries SaKé, a handbag line made with organic leather and traditional Peruvian weaving techniques, and jewelry from designer Lorena Pestana.
The shop doubles as a café: a courtyard space behind the retail floor serves coca tea and other drinks, giving shoppers somewhere to sit between browsing the knitwear racks and the accessory displays. That pairing of retail boutique and small café, built around one shared courtyard, sets Cocoliso apart from Cusco's more conventional alpaca-wool storefronts, most of which keep shopping and seating separate. The shop is one of several small, independently run boutiques recommended in Cusco shopping guides alongside better-known names like Kuna and Hilo, reflecting a newer wave of Cusco boutiques blending Andean materials with more contemporary retail presentation.

Founded by Gabonese-born designer Tabitha, this appointment-only atelier hand-sketches, cuts and embroiders bespoke garments for weddings, galas and stage, releasing only a handful of pieces each month. Dallas-based Flea Style combines Western-boho clothing, vintage finds, gifts and its Original Hat Bar. The current Dallas boutique is at 902 S Pearl Expy inside Dallas Farmers Market.
Best for Western-boho fashion, vintage finds, gifts, and custom hats
Flea Style grew from an event business into a retail company with hat-making experiences at its centre. Brittany Cobb launched The Dallas Flea in 2009 as a quarterly market for selected vendors and small businesses. The project adopted the Flea Style name in 2015, then opened its first flagship and headquarters in a renovated 5,000-square-foot Deep Ellum building in 2018. A second shop followed at The Star in Frisco. In 2020 the Frisco location introduced the company's first official hat bar, turning customization into a defined part of the format. Expansion continued through Fort Worth, Louisville and a mobile boutique built into a 20-foot truck. The current offer joins vintage pieces with Western clothing and gifts, together with hat appointments. That history explains why the business does not read like a standard apparel chain. Its retail model developed from markets and vendor discovery, with live customization. The Dallas Farmers Market location carries that sequence forward, combining a permanent shop with the participatory Original Hat Bar concept.

11.11/eleven eleven is the Delhi-based label of Mia Morikawa, a graphic-design graduate of Central Saint Martins, and Shani Himanshu, who trained in fashion design at Milan's Domus Academy. Operating under parent company CellDSGN, the two built the brand around what they call a 'seed to stitch' philosophy: garments made from indigenous cotton, hand-spun and hand-loom woven, then finished using miniature tie-dye, hand painting, and quilting techniques learned from artisan communities across India. Every piece is dyed with 100% natural colorants rather than synthetic ones, and the label frames the process as regenerative rather than merely sustainable -- nitrogen-rich runoff from its natural dyeing is redirected to fertilize the fields of the same rural communities that supply the cotton and the labor. That closed loop, alongside the deliberate rejection of industrial mass production, has made 11.11 a reference point in India's slow-fashion movement, sold through the label's own flagship on Lodhi Road in New Delhi as well as internationally. The name itself nods to symmetry and intention -- 11:11 as a moment of alignment -- carried through into a catalogue of khadi clothing, naturally dyed textiles, quilts and rugs built to outlast trend cycles rather than follow them.
New Delhi
David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore build their New Delhi design house on Indian handloom textiles cut into spare, modern silhouettes of kurtas, saris, shirts and dresses. The label extends into a home collection of dinnerware, candles and cloth, and has shown at the V&A and Liberty London.

Aisha Rao trained first as a lawyer, earning her degree from the National University of Juridical Sciences before redirecting toward fashion -- studying design at Barcelona's IED and then garment construction specifically at Parsons School of Design in New York. She launched her eponymous label in Hyderabad in 2018, building it around a specific, unusual raw material: fabric waste. Offcuts and remnants are upcycled and reworked into appliqué motifs rather than discarded, then layered with traditional Indian embellishment techniques -- aari and zardozi embroidery, macramé work -- to produce occasion wear that reads as deliberately maximalist rather than restrained, built around bold color and dense surface detail. That combination of sustainability-minded sourcing and traditional Indian handcraft, applied to bridal and festive wear rather than everyday ready-to-wear, has become the label's signature. Every piece is designed and produced in Hyderabad, keeping the supply chain close to the ateliers and embroiderers Rao works with directly. The Mehrauli boutique inside Delhi's Ambawatta One complex -- a courtyard address that has become a hub for independent Indian designers -- is the label's third physical store, extending a brand built initially online into a retail footprint across the country's fashion capitals.

Greater Kailash II, New Delhi
CMYK Bookstore was opened by Kapil and Priya Kapoor of the publisher Roli Books as a shop given over to illustrated titles. The shelves cover art and design, with architecture, photography, fashion titles alongside them. Architectural Digest India called it India's largest retailer of art and design books in 2023. Addresses are listed at Greater Kailash 2 Market and Meharchand Market in New Delhi.
Best for Art, architecture, design, photography, fashion, craft, and illustrated books from international publishers
CMYK Bookstore came out of a publishing house rather than a retail chain. Kapil and Priya Kapoor, who run Roli Books, opened it to give art and design titles a room of their own. The stated ambition was a shop that understood illustrated books well enough to dedicate an entire space to the genre. More than a decade on, the shelves hold illustrated books sourced from publishers abroad, weighted toward art and design. Architectural Digest India described the Greater Kailash 2 shop as India's largest retailer of art and design books, and named the Kapoors as its founders. Kapil is managing director at Roli Books and Priya is editorial director, so the buying comes from inside the trade. The head office address remains M-75, Greater Kailash 2 Market, while the shop also lists 142 Meharchand Market on Fifth Avenue. Stock runs from Assouline travel volumes to Sanskrit compendiums and single-subject design surveys. Prices sit at collector level, which the shop does not disguise. The shop ships within India and abroad, and it takes book requests by phone for titles not on the floor.

Nicobar offers contemporary clothing and homeware through a collection that describes its design perspective as rooted in India. Its home range includes tableware and serving pieces alongside decorative objects, with clothing available for women and men. Gifts can therefore range from something for the dining table to a wearable item, rather than one narrow product category.
Best for Contemporary clothing, tableware and gifts for the home
Nicobar is a lifestyle brand whose identity is modern, with mindful design rooted in India. The range moves between clothing and the home. One design language connects women's and men's wear with dining and textiles, then extends further to furniture and gifts. Nico Core provides a recurring foundation, while NicoSera is presented as an evening edit. A named collaboration with Rajesh Pratap Singh adds another authored collection within the clothing programme. Home categories are equally specific: dinner sets, serveware and drinkware, with table linen beside barware. Storage and lighting occupy related categories with decorative objects. The Singleton Social collaboration appears among Nicobar's home collections. Gifting is treated as its own service through a concierge, e-gift cards and occasion-led selections. This structure makes Nicobar different from a fashion label that merely adds a few accessories. Clothing, table rituals and interiors are developed as parallel expressions of the same India-rooted point of view. Named collections prevent that breadth from becoming anonymous. Nico Core supplies continuity while NicoSera defines a particular time of day, and designer collaborations introduce a distinct author. Together they give the merchant a legible framework across apparel and objects alongside gifts.

Pero, whose name means 'to wear' in Marwari, was launched in 2008 by Aneeth Arora, a graduate of the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology who went on to study at India's National Institute of Design. Arora spent extensive time with craftspeople learning dyeing, weaving and embroidery techniques, and every Pero garment reportedly passes through the hands of at least half a dozen artisans before completion. The label combines these traditional Indian textile crafts with a Western-leaning design sensibility across women's, men's and children's lines, and has since expanded into home decor. Pero is stocked in roughly 20 countries and has shown at Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo in Florence.

Cellini Signature was founded in Doha in 1999 by Ghazi Al Mannai, whose vision for the brand traces to a trip to Italy in 1984, where he struck up a friendship with a boutique owner named Alessandro in a small spa town. Al Mannai has described that encounter as the spark for building a Qatari retail business run on the same standards of craft and service he encountered there. Cellini's core project has been the modernization of the thobe, the traditional ankle-length garment worn across the Gulf, reworking it through an expanded range of cuts, fabrics, colors, and patterns while keeping its essential form intact — treating a garment often mass-produced elsewhere as a made-to-measure fashion object instead. Al Mannai has maintained close ties to Italy for three decades, traveling there monthly to source fabrics from mills including Loro Piana and Thomas Mason, and sending in-house tailors to train directly with Italian fashion houses rather than relying on imported finished goods alone. He frames the business around three stated principles — passion for fashion, commitment to quality, and attentive service — with an emphasis on letting clients follow their garment through its making, from fabric and buttons to thread, rather than simply buying off a rack. That approach built Cellini into what trade press has described as Qatar's leading name in luxury tailored menswear.

New Yorker Qatar is a local branch of the German clothing chain New Yorker, which was founded in 1971 in Flensburg, on Germany's border with Denmark, by Tilman Hansen and Michael Simson, joined soon after by Friedrich Knapp. The three founded SHK-Jeans GmbH and started out selling jeans before expanding into a broader fast-fashion range through branches opened across Germany during the 1970s and 1980s. Simson left the company in 1990, and Knapp went on to become sole owner in 2001, steering the chain's growth into an international retailer. New Yorker crossed the German border for the first time in 1994 with a branch in Linz, Austria, and continued expanding through the late 1990s into Central Europe, including the Czech Republic and Poland in 1998; by the early 2020s the chain operated in close to 50 countries across three continents. In Qatar, New Yorker trades from City Center Doha, where its store occupies space on the mall's second floor, alongside a further branch at Doha Festival City. The Doha stores follow the same format as the chain's branches elsewhere: budget-priced, trend-driven clothing aimed at teenage and young-adult shoppers, stocked from New Yorker's centrally managed European buying and design operation rather than being locally designed.

The first Bloomingdale's outside the United States, opened February 1, 2010 inside The Dubai Mall. Operated under license by Al Tayer Insignia (Al Tayer Group) rather than by Macy's, Inc. directly, spanning a three-level, 146,000 sq ft apparel and accessories store plus a separate one-level home store.
Best for Designer fashion beauty and homeware
Bloomingdale's Dubai opened on February 1, 2010, as the first Bloomingdale's location outside the United States, the result of a licensing partnership between Macy's, Inc. and Dubai-based Al Tayer Group. The store is run day-to-day by Al Tayer Insignia, the same Al Tayer division that also holds the UAE license for Harvey Nichols; Al Tayer Insignia later opened a second Bloomingdale's in Kuwait's 360 Mall in 2017. The Dubai location anchors The Dubai Mall with two separate buildings: a three-level apparel and accessories store covering roughly 146,000 square feet, and a one-level, 54,000-square-foot Bloomingdale's Home store. Like its US counterparts, the Dubai store carries designer ready-to-wear, accessories, beauty and home goods from a mix of international luxury and contemporary brands, adapted to the regional market. Because it operates under a franchise/license structure rather than as a directly Macy's-owned unit, product assortment, pricing and operations are set locally by Al Tayer rather than being identical to a US Bloomingdale's. It remains one of the anchor department stores of The Dubai Mall alongside Galeries Lafayette.

It was included in The Gloss magazine's 2024-2025 list of Ireland's best shops, cited specifically for sustainability, ethical production and the preservation of traditional craft techniques. South Great George's Street, Dublin
Victorian market arcade — independent shops, vintage clothing, vinyl records, and street food vendors. A covered market with real character.
Best for Victorian covered arcade with vintage clothing, vinyl records, and street food vendors.
George's Street Arcade began as South City Markets, a purpose-built Victorian shopping centre in Dublin. The Dublin South City Market Company was incorporated in 1876, and British architects Lockwood and Mauson designed the market. Lord Mayor Sir George Moyers formally opened it in 1881. A fire destroyed the building on 27 August 1892, displacing shopkeepers and stallholders. Local labour and craftspeople rebuilt the centre in the same style, and it reopened on 13 September 1894. The market has traded continuously since that reopening and is now generally known as George's Street Arcade. The Layden Family Group acquired the property in 1992 and continued refurbishment in keeping with the Victorian structure. The arcade reports approximately fifty tenants, ranging from a department store to small stalls. Its directory spans fashion and accessories. Silver and costume jewellery appear beside hair services and music, while other tenants cover art and books. Memorabilia and cafés share the arcade with groceries and speciality foods. Published at South Great George's Street, Dublin 2, the operating market carries a documented history of construction and destruction followed by rebuilding.

Nine cabinets hold jewellery sorted by colour, and the clothing centres on evening and cocktail dresses made before 1960. Only true vintage is sold, with no reproductions, and stock changes weekly. There is no website, so buying means visiting the shop in person.
Best for Designer vintage clothing and costume jewellery
Jenny Vander sells vintage clothing and costume jewellery from 50 Drury Street in Dublin 2. The Shopkeepers records the shop as established in 1974 and notes there is no website, so a visit in person is required. Visit Dublin describes nine jewellery cabinets in which pieces are arranged by colour, and states that only true vintage is sold, with no reproductions. The clothing leans toward evening and cocktail dresses made before 1960, along with shawls and stoles, beaded tops and jackets. DublinTown puts it as statement dresses for a woman of 1925 onward, decade by decade, with cases of costume jewellery that often come as complete sets of earrings and necklace with a matching bracelet. Stock changes weekly. Stylists are frequent visitors, and The Shopkeepers lists the shop in its Ireland selections for 2023 and 2024, adding that international stylists have dressed clients in looks bought here. Ball gowns are a particular strength, and the shop trades under the Jenny Vander name on Instagram.

STABLE of Ireland brings Irish linen and handwoven textiles to a shop in Dublin's Westbury Mall, just off Grafton Street. Its clothing and scarf collections sit alongside home textiles. The brand works with weavers and other makers across the island of Ireland, giving traditional textile skills a place in contemporary designs.
Best for Irish linen, woven scarves and home textiles in central Dublin
STABLE of Ireland is a useful stop for someone interested in textiles rather than a general souvenir assortment. Its Dublin shop sits in Westbury Mall, just off Grafton Street, with scarves and clothing alongside pieces for the home. Linen and woven fabrics are central to the collection, so comparing their feel in person is part of the reason to visit.
The brand works with makers across the island of Ireland, including weavers and knitters in both north and south. It draws on skills associated with rural life and gives them new uses in contemporary clothing and household textiles. That approach connects a scarf or throw to a craft tradition without requiring the buyer to choose a historical reproduction.
Irish making is an important part of STABLE's work, but its own sourcing statement includes the qualification that this happens where feasible. Check the individual piece if manufacturing origin is important to your purchase. The shop presents the full range and offers a place to ask about the textile and the people behind it.
Ploce (near Ploce Gate / Old Town)
Opened in 2016 near Dubrovnik's Ploce Gate, Kawa pairs Croatian-made fashion, jewellery and homewares with Cogito specialty coffee and an international grocery corner. A co-working area and a partnership with The Byron Dubrovnik round out the concept store.
Best for Opened in 2016 near Dubrovnik's Ploce Gate, Kawa pairs Croatian-made fashion
Life According to Kawa opened in 2016 in a converted garage just outside Dubrovnik's Ploce Gate, within walking distance of the Old Town, built around Croatian-made fashion, jewelry, homewares, wine and craft beer rather than the souvenir-shop staples typical of the area. A dedicated section, branded '8th Kontinent Trading Co.', stocks groceries from China, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East — spices, instant noodles, sauces and other specialty ingredients not otherwise easy to find in the city.
Coffee comes from Cogito, which Kawa describes as Croatia's top specialty roaster, served to-go alongside a co-working seating area with views over the town — a layout that positions the shop as somewhere to linger and work, not just browse and buy. The business also partners with The Byron Dubrovnik, a UNESCO heritage building with seven modern rooms, extending the concept-store model into short-stay accommodation.
The shop supports Nelly's Trust, a cat welfare organization, and takes recipe submissions directly from customers by email — small details consistent with a business built on local, specific relationships rather than a franchised or generic retail format. For visitors, the combination of Croatian design retail, third-wave coffee and an international grocery corner under one converted-garage roof is unusual enough on its own to be a reason to visit, independent of any single product category.

Kathrin Kidger Designs is a family-run Durban ladieswear label producing dresses, jumpsuits, kimonos and leisurewear that are designed and made in South Africa. The collections lean toward fashion-forward, flattering pieces with an emphasis on print and finish.
Best for Locally made ladieswear
Kathrin Kidger graduated in fashion from the Durban University of Technology. She was named student of the year there and awarded the Daphne Strut Memorial Prize. Her work has since been shown at SA Fashion Week and recognised by the Durban Designers Collection, the SA Fashion Handbook and the Durban Fashion Fair. Her namesake label, Kathrin Kidger Designs, is a family-managed ladieswear brand based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Every garment is designed and produced in South Africa. The designer frames that as support for local industry. The collections take their cue from the tropics. They aim at flattering, fashion-forward pieces for women who want quality making and understated glamour. Kidger designs and manufactures each garment herself, cutting for a range of body shapes. The pieces reach customers through select stockists and the online shop. The team is three women from one family with a combined fifty years in fashion and retail. Kathrin stands at the head. Her sister Lisa Kidger manages the brand with a background in advertising and marketing, and a third family member completes the group. The label describes itself as spanning generations of creativity and skill in women's fashion.

Cisalfa is an Italian multi-brand sporting-goods chain for athletic footwear, clothing and equipment from running to skiing.
Best for Sports gear runs.
Cisalfa Sport is an Italian multi-brand retailer covering footwear and clothing, plus equipment for sport and leisure. Its live catalogue divides the offer by activity rather than treating sportswear as one fashion category. Running includes dedicated shoes and technical clothing, while football adds boots and official team kits. Trekking and outdoor equipment form another path. Fitness and tennis are presented beside padel. Cycling, basketball and yoga extend the activity range. The brand roster includes Nike, adidas, The North Face, Asics, Birkenstock and Garmin, showing that Cisalfa combines apparel with footwear and equipment makers. Urban clothing and sneakers also appear, but they do not replace the specialist categories. Cisalfa serves shoppers comparing gear across several sports in one retailer, not buyers seeking a single house's design language. Cisalfa's breadth comes from named sporting activities within a multi-brand retail model; it does not imply that the retailer manufactures the products it sells.

A Florentine family business that began in 1894 as grandmother Genni's fabric shop; grandsons Marco and Andrea opened the first Eredi Chiarini clothing store in 1970 and, in 1984, brought the first Polo Ralph Lauren store in Italy to Florence.
Best for Florentine gentleman's wardrobe.
The Eredi Chiarini story starts in 1894, when a woman named Genni opened a fabric shop in Florence, the seed of what became a menswear institution three generations later. Her daughter Norma and son-in-law Otello later ran the business, keeping it a modest fabric and haberdashery trade, including through the 1940s. The shift came with the third generation: grandsons Marco and Andrea Chiarini opened the first Eredi Chiarini menswear boutique in Piazza Beccaria in 1970, a move that proved more successful than expected. In May 1982 the family opened a boutique in Florence's historic center on Via Porta Rossa. Two years later, in 1984, they brought Ralph Lauren to Italy for the first time, opening the country's first Polo Ralph Lauren store on Via Tornabuoni in Florence, a licensing partnership that placed Eredi Chiarini at the center of how American sportswear tailoring first reached the Italian market. A fourth generation, Carlotta Chiarini, joined the business in 2009. The company still trades from Via Porta Rossa 33/R (it returned there in 2015, at the Torre dei Saggi), running as a family-owned menswear and womenswear retailer carrying in-house and licensed collections, more than 130 years after Genni's original fabric counter.

Mango's Via Cerretani store in Florence is listed as a womenswear location. The shop is at numbers 60–62, making it a specific address for browsing the brand's women's collection. Visitors should use that branch's listing when planning a visit, since other Mango stores may carry different ranges.
Best for Mango womenswear at the Via Cerretani branch in Florence
Mango operates several clearly identified stores in central Florence. These are city branches of the Barcelona-based fashion company rather than an independent Florentine label. The official Italian locator lists a women's store at Via Cerretani 60-62 and another at Santa Maria Novella in Piazza della Stazione. A third location at Piazza del Grano 5-6 carries women's and men's lines, with a children's department also listed. The department mix therefore differs by address and should not be treated as uniform across the city. At company level, Mango says its clothing is designed in its Barcelona atelier. Its current catalogue separates women's and men's collections. Teenagers and children have their own ranges, while homeware forms another category. The company's responsibility report adds production context: more than 60 people oversee quality, and Mango conducts nearly 20,000 supplier-factory inspections each year. The report states that 72 percent of fibres come from preferred sources, with recycled fibres accounting for 25 percent. Those figures describe the wider group, yet they provide a more specific account of the brand behind the Florence branches than a generic trend-fashion label.

Lim Ah Hock has hand-made Malaysian batik since 1980, and his son James Lim now runs the Jalan Transfer workshop and shop under the Batek-Lah name he launched in 2012. Batik tulis (hand-drawn) and batik cap (hand-stamped) pieces cover menswear, womenswear, accessories, kitchen textiles and corporate commissions.
Best for Handmade Penang batik apparel
Batek-Lah Collection traces to Lim Ah Hock, who began making batik in George Town, Penang in 1980 and built Lim Trading into a local fixture of the island's batik trade over more than four decades. The shop at No. 158 Jalan Transfer, near Hotel Penaga in George Town's heritage core, still produces its cloth on site using the two classical Malaysian techniques: batik cap, stamped with carved copper or wooden blocks, and batik lukis (batik tulis), drawn freehand in molten wax before dyeing.
In 2012, Lim Ah Hock's son James Lim took on the business and rebranded it as Batek-Lah, aiming, in his own account, to breathe new life into his father's products while keeping the handmade process unchanged. The range grew from clothing into accessories, kitchen textiles, tailored corporate uniforms and gifts, sold from the same Jalan Transfer premises alongside a second outlet at Aman Central in Alor Setar.
The shop is a recurring stop on Penang heritage-trail listings (Tripadvisor, George Town World Heritage Incorporated) as one of the city's working batik ateliers where visitors can watch wax-resist patterns applied by hand rather than machine-printed.

The Warung sells named local-designer goods, from the Ben Journal leather journal to Lahym coasters, at its George Town, Penang shop. It also runs craft workshops like cyanotype and brush lettering sessions.
Best for Local-designer goods like the Ben Journal leather journal and NyoCup
The Warung operates from 145 Lebuh Victoria in George Town, Penang, open daily except Wednesday from 10:30am to 7pm. Its stock leans on named local-designer lines rather than generic gift-shop goods: the Ben Journal, an A6 leather journal book; the NyoCup; and the Lahym range of square coasters and name-card holders, each crediting a specific maker rather than an anonymous supplier. Beyond retail, the shop runs hands-on programming — past events include a Cyanotype Workshop and a Brush Lettering Workshop — and has used its platform for features like an International Women's Day tribute to the makers it stocks. That combination of a fixed George Town heritage-shophouse address, named local-designer product lines, and its own workshop programming is what distinguishes The Warung from a typical souvenir or lifestyle shop: the goods on its shelves are traceable to specific small makers, and the shop itself functions as a venue for craft learning, not just a point of sale. For a visitor to Penang's heritage district, it offers a stop where the coffee blends, journals, and skincare on the shelf connect back to named local designers and artists rather than wholesale stock.

The shop has since relocated to its current premises at Kings Court, 101 King Street, still within the Merchant City area, and has become one of the longest-running retro and vintage clothing stores in Scotland. Its brand list includes Corridor and orSlow, alongside Kestin and other makers selected for the shop. The physical store gives customers somewhere to try garments and discuss fit, complementing the business's online catalogue.
Best for Independent-label menswear in Glasgow’s Thornwood
Orzel is an independent menswear shop in the Thornwood area of Glasgow, founded by Grant Agnew, who has cited independent boutiques in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood as a direct influence on the shop's format and curation approach: a small, conversational, try-before-you-buy retail experience rather than a high-volume sales floor. The shop's own description invites customers to try things on and talk shop rather than simply browse, positioning it closer to the specialist menswear shops of New York's independent scene than to conventional British high-street retail. Its buy is built around premium American and European labels including 3sixteen, Corridor, Lady White Co., Wythe, Orslow, Kestin, Phigvel, and Service Works, spanning outerwear, knitwear, shirting, and footwear, alongside Glasgow-made watches and an in-house accessories line developed under the Orzel name itself, giving the shop both a curated multi-brand assortment and its own small manufactured range. The emphasis across the buy is stated explicitly as pieces intended to age beautifully, aligning the shop's selection criteria with a durability- and patina-focused reading of menswear rather than seasonal trend-driven stock.

Dye for Indigo is Johan Åberg's natural indigo dyeing studio in Majorna, Gothenburg, opened in 2015 after nearly 20 years in fashion. He takes dyeing commissions for designers and brands and teaches shibori and sashiko workshops in traditional resist and mending techniques.
Best for Natural indigo dyeing commissions and shibori/sashiko workshops
Johan Åberg grew up in Dalsjöfors near Borås, a Swedish region built on textile manufacturing, and worked summers as a teenager at Almedahls, a textile company founded in the 1800s. He spent nearly two decades afterward in the fashion trade before growing disillusioned with poor quality and working conditions, leaving to open the vintage shop Göteborg Vintage in Gothenburg in 2013.
The turn toward indigo came in the summer of 2015, when Åberg took a natural-dyeing course at Capellagården, a craft school on the Swedish island of Öland. He has said simply, "I wanted to learn everything about indigo." He began shifting his vintage business toward dyeing, gradually converting it into what became Dyeforindigo, a studio in the Majorna district of Gothenburg devoted to plant-based indigo and Japanese resist and mending techniques.
Today the studio takes commissioned dyeing work for designers and brands and runs open workshops in shibori resist-dyeing and sashiko mending, alongside lectures and collaborations with institutions including HDK-Valand, Chalmers University of Technology and the Borås Textile Fashion Center. Åberg has described the work as "my reaction to the consumer society," positioning hand-dyeing and mending as a deliberate alternative to disposable fashion.

Through the 1960s the range expanded from lingerie into general womenswear. Today Lindex is headquartered in Gothenburg and covers womenswear, lingerie, kidswear and cosmetics, operating roughly 480 stores with about 5,000 employees across 18 markets. Since 2007 it has been part of the Finnish Stockmann Group.

Best for Block from Granada's Parque Central
A block east of Granada's Parque Central on Calle La Libertad, The Garden Cafe pairs a full-day food menu — breakfast through dinner — with two things a standard cafe wouldn't carry: a curated shop of goods by Nicaraguan artisans, artists and designers, and a community library the site calls "nuestra biblioteca." The specialty coffee service sits inside that broader concept rather than as the sole draw, alongside dessert and beverage menus and a stated focus on honest ingredients. The building itself is used deliberately to showcase Granada's historic architecture, and the cafe is affiliated with NM Granada, a related restaurant in the same city. Open daily from 7am to 9pm, it functions as much as a gathering point — library, shop, and dining room combined — as a coffee stop, with the artisan shop giving visitors a way to buy directly from local makers rather than tourist-market goods.
